The registry has three functions:
- to collect public information for display and download at occupationregistry.org
- to collect private, occupation-related contact information for the Occupy.net CRM managed by the OWS Digital Strategy Cluster, who is responsible for the collection and authentication of all data within the registry.
- to collect RSS feeds for display at Occupy.net News and to package them in a freely download-able OPML Library.

Once registered and authenticated, your occupation's public information will be placed in the registry and your occupations feed(s) will be included in the OccupyWeb OMPL Library. Anyone can download this library, place it into a feed aggregator (ex. Google Reader) and access the feeds from all the occupations in the registry. We're working with the creator of RSS to create a namespace that would allow occupations to embed their public information directly into their feed.
