The Tech Ops Group was an umbrella organization formed on November 6, 2011 (minutes) in order to represent to operations of various related groups at the first Spokes Council meeting the following day. Spokes council was recognizing Operations Groups and it wasn't quite clear what that meant at the time. There was debate around how many "operations" groups were tech focused, and whether or not the main GA site should be its own Ops Group. Tech Ops Group was seen at this time as an umbrella to represent the interests of:
Post- eviction raid
A proposal for Reorganizing the Internet and Free/Libre/Opensource Solutions Working Groups was requested during the Nov 19 Internet Working Group meeting and was drafted, posted on the wiki, and submitted to the internet and ows_solutions mailing lists. This proposal was accepted at the subsequent meeting and the reorganization took place.
