Creating Coordination Hubs on InterOccupy

Here are the steps to follow when someone requests a new Coordination Hub on InterOccupy:

[edit] Create the Notes and Agenda document

  1. Template to copy from is here: http://notes.occupy.net/p/InterOccupy_Notes_Template
  2. Title the notes document Handle_Notes_Agenda

[edit] Create the Forum for the Hub

  1. Go to forum.occupy.net/interoccupy and log in as admin.
  2. Create a new category with Hub Name and permalink http://forum.occupy.net/interoccupy/index.php?p=/category/HANDLE
  3. Set permissions to Public or Private according to the request by the Hub initiator

[edit] Create the Wiki page

  1. Go to InterOccupy Coordination Hubs
  2. Add the new Hub to the list using the same formatting as the other projects. List them alphabetically. The link to the InterOccupy coordination hub will be interoccupy.org/HANDLE
  3. Title of new wiki page will be "Name of Coordination Hub"

[edit] Create Civi Group

  1. Go to crm.occupy.net to login
  2. Go to CiviCRM , click on Contacts and go to Manage Groups and add a group with Hub Admins as a Parent Group
  3. Add new group permission, follow these instructions
  4. Create an email subscription profile form to embed into Hub & websites
  5. Add Group to Organizations form to link organizations added by this group. Go to Administer > Customize Data & Screens > Custom Fields, in the IO Hub Fields data set click on View and Edit Custom Fields; search for Associated IO Coordination Hub and click on Edit Multiple Choice Options and Add Option with new Hub HANDLE
  6. Register the group/project email and give it the necessary permissions in Drupal and assign Civi Group roles

[edit] In InterOccupy Wordpress Admin

  1. Create a new category for the project. With Name of the project and handle for the category slug. Parent Category is "Updates".
  2. Update the "Updates" form to include the new category
    1. Go to Forms and select the form "Updates for Calls or Coordination Hubs for InterOccupy Website." Click Edit.
    2. Go the the field "Post Category" and click edit.
    3. In the Category section, check the box for the category you just created.
    4. Click "Update Form"
  3. Create a Coordination Hub page for the project.
    1. Use the Coordination Hubs Template.
    2. Page Parent is "Coordination Hub".
    3. Title is "Name of the Project | Hub."
    4. Slug for the page name is the handle provided. So, final name will be interoccupy.org/hub/HANDLE
    5. Upload and insert the image provided in the proper place in the template
    6. Update links:
      1. Updates - links to interoccupy.org/category/updates/HANDLE
      2. Minutes - links to http://interoccupy.org/hub/HANDLE/HANDLE-minutes
      3. Events Calendar - Links to special URL that you will create when you make the Calendar Category below.
      4. Wiki Documentation - links to http://wiki.occupy.net/index.php?title=TitleOfHub
      5. (DO NOT CREATE WITH INITIAL HUB, ADD ONCE REQUESTED) Related News - Create a channel for project with feeds that reflect the project. It needs to be requested through Occupy.net News
      6. (DO NOT CREATE WITH INITIAL HUB, ADD ONCE REQUESTED) Global Activities - If it's an event or action provide tutorials on how to use to report updates, full documentation here Occupy.net Maps
      7. Twitter - Links to http://twitter.com/HANDLE
      8. Facebook - insert the link that the requester provided
      9. Classifieds - links to http://classifieds.occupy.net/listings-at/HANDLE
      10. Website - Add link if provided, otherwise do not make this visible until requested
    7. (DO NOT CREATE WITH INITIAL HUB, ADD ONCE REQUESTED) Our Allies - Link to organizations list, it's not ready yet.
    8. Embed the Project forum (if public)
      1. Go to forum.occupy.net/interoccupy dashboard and create a category and organized alphabetically under Hubs
      2. Add this script to the bottom of Hub page and replace forum-category-handle, no caps, with the category slug from the forum (must be in HTML mode, not Visual): <script>window.location.hash = "/categories/forum-category-handle"</script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://forum.occupy.net/interoccupy/plugins/embedvanilla/remote.js"></script>
  4. Create a Call Dashboard for this project. Use Dashboard Template
    1. Use Template Call Dashboard
    2. Insert proper code for notes document
    3. Parent Page is the Page for the Hub you are creating.
    4. Name of Page is Hub Name | Dashboard
    5. Permalink is interoccupy.org/hub/handle/handle-dashboard
  5. Create a Minutes page for the project
    1. Parent Page is the Page for the Hub you are creating.
    2. Use Minutes Template
    3. Insert read-only link to the Notes doc for agenda and notes. To get the read-only link, on the notes page go to upper right and see the link that looks like </> - Open that, check read-only and then copy the link.
    4. Name of the page is Hub name | Minutes
    5. Permalink is interoccupy.org/hub/handle/handle-minutes
  6. Create a Calendar Category for the project
    1. Click on Events>>Event Categories
    2. Create a new category, with name of hub, slug is HANDLE-events, parent is Interoccupy Calendar
    3. Once the category is created, you can click on "view" and you will see the exact URL that can be used to filter the calendar for just the events related to this project. This URL can be used on the Hub page link for "Events Calendar"

[edit] Once Complete, send an email to the person who requested the project hub

  2. Customize it with appropriate links and send it.
