Feed the Movement

Feed the Movement is a group of farmers, farm advocates, and other volunteers. We have been collecting and delivering fresh produce from small farms to OWS and OccupyBoston since mid-October. We've also made videos of farmers speaking out about farming's place in social and economic justice issues, and have begun to form connections with other folks around the country who are interested in setting up systems to connect small farms and the occupy movements. Our members are mostly from VT and MA (as well as NYC), though we've had some contact with farms in upstate NY and in other areas. We are in contact with 20-30 small farms, and have the potential to reach out to many more.

In addition to the food deliveries, we've talked about other activities - gleaning programs, work-trade programs, "grow-a-row for OWS" campaign, etc. We've had some communication with other groups - Occupy Big Food in NY, the Food Justice sub-group of the OWS Sustainability Working Group, Feed the 99 in Boston, and now Occupy Farms.

We have a website where you can learn more if interested. We also have a facebook page, and an open google group, "feed the movement," that anyone who's interested can join.
