The primary goal of the campaign is to create the open source systems that will bring a high level of citizen (occupier) participation and transparency to global economic and environmental programs:
This will be accomplished by creating 'Communities of Practice' of professionals and citizens around key issues: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63rQ3S8EHoA

Occupy Earth Summit Workgroup campaign proposal (as of 1/4/12):
Within its first few months the Occupy Wall Street movement has helped to ignite a worldwide transformative movement, for the first time in the history of the world a global non-partisan people’s movement has taken to the streets calling with a united voice for change. At its heart this is a great awakening of the realization that it is possible for the people to reclaim the future.
While the roots of the Occupy Wall Street movement focus on Wall Street - banking and corporate control are global, to achieve the goals of OWS in a lasting and meaningful way we must set our sights on the top of the pyramid.
The Earth Summit Workgroup is proposing the creation of a Global Occupy Celebration - Reclaim the Future. This will be a yearly event taking place on the summer solstice. A global Maker Fare, Earth Day, Burning Man of sorts, a united day of occupation, action, concerts, festivals, and solidarity.
This year the Occupier’s First Summer Solstice Earth Summit on June 21st happens to coincide with the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), this will be the 20 year update on the first UN Earth Conference held in 1992. Given the fact the we are currently facing a global ecological catastrophe its easy to feel that a global conference once every 20 years may not be enough. Therefore - Occupy will be holding our Earth Summit every year (perhaps even more frequently).
In fact this year’s Rio+20 conference had to be rescheduled from June 4-6 to the current June 20-22 because the earlier dates conflicted with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration and many world leaders were choosing the Queen over Mother Earth, so the UN moved the date.
Unlike all other previous UN initiatives the Environmental Program has been created for public participation. From the UN website: http://www.uncsd2012.org/rio20/index.php?menu=35 :
“From the very beginning of the first Earth Summit in 1992, people realized that sustainable development could not be achieved by governments alone. It would require the active participation of all sectors of society and all types of people - consumers, workers, business persons, farmers, students, teachers, researchers, activists, indigenous communities, and other communities of interest. Agenda 21 formalized nine of these as the overarching categories through which all citizens could participate in the UN activities on achieving sustainable development. These are officially called "Major Groups".”
This is an unprecedented opportunity for the Occupy Movement to occupy the United Nations in a permanent and transformative way. The UN has opened the door for the people of the world to participate in the process, we will join as active agents of change bringing participatory democracy, new economies and environmental healing through open source collaboration and innovation.
Global technology and communications is enabling this possible shift to a much deeper level of citizen participation in the international arena - we expect the United Nations to acknowledge this fact and work with us to help achieve this outcome. The opinions and values of the global population should and must be represented with the understanding that the interests of the people trump those of global banks and corporations. An Occupied United Nations can allow us to Reclaim Our Future.
